The Sleeves All Floppy

PHOP017: Runaround Kids - No Dreams / Falling Into Better Hands

The follow up to their successful Kiss Chase EP had an interesting gestation period. Originally conceived as a kind of follow up to Rocket Footage EP it was to be a split EP with The Compression, 2 tracks from each band plus a cover of the other band. As you can obviously tell that didn't happen.

Little over a week before recording (and their first London gig) was due to start in February 2010 Runaround Kids' drummer quit. In time this would prove to be a blessing but it's fair to say the timing wasn't the best. In came The Compression guitarist Rob Burnell. Recording was attempted but it was decided to give Rob more time to bed in.

In the meantime they had entered the Futuresound competition and won a place at both Leeds and Reading Festivals. We had a release date to aim for now. The Compression were struggling to finish their recording (it never was finished) it was decided to abandon the split ep. With the cover no longer required Runaround Kids were ready. We weren't going to have the 7" back in time for the festivals so we'd have to get some flyers made. The fact that half of the flyers are still under my bed should tell you how good at flyering the band and myself were.

The sleeve shows George on crutches with his leg in a cast due to a skateboarding injury. He was still in the cast for the festivals which led to some people suggesting the band were ironically named.

The 7" is currently £1.50 in our January sale:
